{"id":16361,"date":"2017-03-14T22:29:05","date_gmt":"2017-03-14T22:29:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.geoffjones.com\/?p=16361"},"modified":"2017-03-14T22:29:05","modified_gmt":"2017-03-14T22:29:05","slug":"gr11-walking-carrapateira-to-arrafana-on-lifeday-25432","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsite.geoffjones.com\/?p=16361","title":{"rendered":"GR11 Walking Carrapateira to Arrafana on lifeday 25,432"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Before I start this post it has to be said I&#8217;ve consumed rather a lot of alcohol this evening \ud83d\ude41 and Sally is currently sleeping it off \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16362\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16362\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/newsite.geoffjones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/1-2017-03-017.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-16362 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/newsite.geoffjones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/1-2017-03-017-300x200.jpg\" alt=\" Carrapateiramar Guest House\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newsite.geoffjones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/1-2017-03-017-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/newsite.geoffjones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/1-2017-03-017-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/newsite.geoffjones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/1-2017-03-017.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-16362\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u00e7 courtyard, our room was just behind Sally<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We left \u00a0the\u00a0Carrapateiramar Guest House at 8,30 with no breakfast on a lovely still morning the walk started with a climb which is how the day continued, a total roller coaster very tough on the legs, I kept thinking how perfect this would be for Nick&#8217;s fell running! although it was a sandy track underfoot, After 5km in Bordeira we stopped for breakfast\u00a0and had a lovely omelette with a custard tart and coffee, perfect \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16364\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16364\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/newsite.geoffjones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/3-2017-03-14-18.02.05.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-16364\" src=\"https:\/\/newsite.geoffjones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/3-2017-03-14-18.02.05-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newsite.geoffjones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/3-2017-03-14-18.02.05-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/newsite.geoffjones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/3-2017-03-14-18.02.05-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/newsite.geoffjones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/3-2017-03-14-18.02.05.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-16364\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A hike with a donkey<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The route continued with constant undulations some very steep through Eucalyptus woods, curiously silent with no wild life \ud83d\ude41 \u00a0we bumped into a German couple with their donkey doing the same walk as us, then a drop to sea level and a climb back up in a rain shower before entering Arrifana\u00a0and the Arrifana Destination Hostel where we are staying. Later we met the donkey couple in the bar, apparently they rented the donkey from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.picotours.de\/de\/\">PicoTours,<\/a> amusingly the donkey knows the route and nudges them if they go wrong \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16363\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16363\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/newsite.geoffjones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2-2017-03-015.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-16363\" src=\"https:\/\/newsite.geoffjones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2-2017-03-015-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newsite.geoffjones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2-2017-03-015-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/newsite.geoffjones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2-2017-03-015-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/newsite.geoffjones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2-2017-03-015.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-16363\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A tired Sally<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The hostel rooms are excellent and the atmosphere is excellent especially meeting the folks you have passed en-route.
