I made sure I was one of the first to breakfast and what an incredible spread the Dan Hostel had laid out, although I guess once 30 or so teenagers had attacked it would be a different story.<\/p>\n<p>I biked back to the sea and continued my way along the coast, good paths &amp; cattle grids with sunshine made it a very pleasant trip especially seeing the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/da.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kammerslusen_(Ribe_%C3%85)\">Kammerslusen flood gates<\/a> that have prevented Ribe being flooded in modern times.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/geoffjones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/1-IMG_4049.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-13803\" src=\"https:\/\/geoffjones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/1-IMG_4049-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Humans by the sea - Svend Wiig Hansen\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newsite.geoffjones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/1-IMG_4049-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/newsite.geoffjones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/1-IMG_4049-768x513.jpg 768w, https:\/\/newsite.geoffjones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/1-IMG_4049.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>I swept through Esbjerg only stopping at the local Aldi and also to admire the\u00a0Man meets the Sea sculpture by\u00a0Svend Wiig Hansen. I had earlier booked a place to stay but one of the problems with trying to follow a track, when you are zoomed in\u00a0so you can easily see the turns is that it is easy to &#8216;miss&#8217; points of the screen. So eventually when I zoomed out I was horrified that the place \u00a0I had booked was miles behind me \ud83d\ude41 Neer mind I thought I will cancel it there must be somewhere else!<\/p>\n<p>Several miles later nothing had materialised and all was woodlands and second homes \ud83d\ude41 I eventually stopped to ask a lady where the nearest place was to stay &#8211; she pointed with a long arm back where I had come from \ud83d\ude41 so after some thought &amp; discussion she said I could stay the night with her husband and herself in their second home \ud83d\ude42 Not only that she had some fresh Sole that we could have for dinner.<\/p>\n<p>So a potential uncomfortable night in a hedgerow turned into a convivial evening discussing the bike route and being shown\u00a0the excellent Danish bike route website , <a href=\"http:\/\/cyclistic.dk\/en\/\">cyclistic.dk<\/a>\u00a0. They did the route it a few years ago and yes accommodation is difficult! We\u00a0also discussed Scottish Independence.
