I met Sabine loading up her bike at daylight downstairs and we agreed to hang on for the rain to clear, since it was only a 30 mile day. It cleared just before 8. I checked my tyres before loading up and all seemed OK.<\/p>\n<p>I had only been on the bike a few minutes and I got that sinking feeling \ud83d\ude41 a few minutes later and it was a total flat with the tyre \u00a0coming of the rim \ud83d\ude41 \u00a0Fortunately the Madras Cafe was next door so after changing the inner tube (and not finding any nail etc \ud83d\ude41 ) I had a wash and enjoyable breakfast chatting to an ex bank manager who trades derivatives on his own account. Interesting talk on risks etc<\/p>\n<p>Then we started on Highway 5 which has a split personality, a new version that makes a loop, wide &amp; boring or the old 5 more interesting but narrower through the villages. We discovered a couple of side roads which made it quieter and more interesting for a while.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12579\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12579\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/geoffjones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/1-IMG_1689.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-12579\" alt=\"No\u00e9mie et Guy\" src=\"https:\/\/geoffjones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/1-IMG_1689-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12579\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">No\u00e9mie et Guy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Whilst having a drink in Kampung Pengkalan two French cyclists stopped for a chat, Guy &amp; No\u00e8mie have been biking for almost a year covering about 8,000km in Russia, Japan, China &amp; SE Asia, their blog is at Escapade En Velo<\/p>\n<p>We soon arrived in Muar past the huge semiconductor plants to find a very pleasant provincial town totally non touristy &amp; really very pleasant. We bumped into\u00a0Guy &amp; No\u00e8mie \u00a0again whilst searching for a hotel \u00a0eventually homing in on the <a href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/v\/hotel-kingdom\/4ee3a5d48b81bab282acefd0\">Hotel Kingdom<\/a> where the two old men were going to put all 4 of us in one room at 45 Ringgits (\u00a39) a night for the room! Eventually we got through to him we wanted 3 \u00a0separate rooms.
