Never realised that Gordon Brown and his cronies at 10, Downing Street cared so much about me that they want to follow my tweets. 🙂 and by implication my blog posts too.. Update:- I’m not alone! Currently they have 208 followers and they are following 140 but with only 12 tweets so far. Some way…

Cambridge Grand arcade opening
Yesterday, after 3 years of construction, the second phase of the Grand Arcade project in Cambridge opened. The first phase, John Lewis opened in November 2007, the final phase, Cambridge’s new central library is scheduled for October this year. Emily and I were there, taking lots of pictures especially of the Ribbon Acrobat team. The…

Daylight bats..
Whilst walking in Mill Road Cemetery today with Tony we spied this bat flying around in broad daylight. Hope this doesn’t mean that UK bats have got the dreaded lurgy that is killing all the bats in the USA one of the symptoms being reported was “Within a month, people in the area were calling…

Finding Heathrow Terminal 5
Don’t expect the Ordnance Survey or any of the other professional mappers to help you in finding Terminal 5 at London’s Heathrow airport. Yep, you have to rely on Open Street Map. It’s a perversity of human nature, but it’s also rather universal.” “Dr. Vaillant compared 136 men who were alcoholics with men who were not. Those who grew up in families where alcohol was…

Walk in payphone?
Here is the latest whizzo idea in stopping people walking on the pavements. The latest from BT in payphone kiosks. A phone booth that blocks of 5 feet of pavement – just so it can display a rotating advertisment on the other side. I wonder who dreams this stuff up? and then places it directly…

Happy white Easter
Here in Cambridge we are in the middle of a spectacular dump of snow not sure if it will be as awesome as the dumps Les Gets has been getting. I’ve been taking a series of pictures, like my daily mugshot, of a local magnolia tree. Todays is quite impressive. The full set is on…
